Maura-Ann Matthews, Ph.D.

Director, Product Development

Dr. Maura Matthews, Ph.D. joined VentiRx in February 2008 as Director of Product Development. During her 16-year tenure in the biotechnology industry she’s held positions in discovery R&D, process development, preclinical development, and project management. Most recently, Dr. Matthews was Director of Project Management for Dendreon Corporation, a biotechnology company based in Seattle, WA. Prior to Dendreon, Dr. Matthews led a preclinical group for the Hemoglobin Therapeutics division of Baxter Healthcare in Boulder, Colorado. Her team supported development of first and second generation recombinant blood substitutes as well as discovery, IND-enabling and clinical programs in hematopoiesis, sepsis, and Crohn’s disease. Prior to Baxter, Dr. Matthews led a transcriptional antagonist program at Somatogen, Inc. in Boulder, Colorado.

Dr. Matthews received a B.A. in Chemistry from Ripon College in Ripon, Wisconsin and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado.
